19-year-old arrested in PlayStation 5 armed robbery, Port Orange police say

PORT ORANGE — Police arrested a 19-year-old accused of using a firearm to steal a PlayStation 5 during an arranged sale, according to the Port Orange Police Department.

The robbery was reported Aug. 25 at The Legacy at Crystal Lake Apartments, 1200 Floral Springs Blvd. Police said the victim had arranged to meet at the complex to sell the gaming console.

According to the department, the suspect approached after the victim arrived. The victim placed the console on the ground, and the suspect picked it up and displayed a firearm. The victim then left the immediate area and met responding officers at the front of the complex.

Officers searched but did not initially find the suspect. Investigators later determined that he had gone into a nearby apartment where he was staying, police said.

Following the investigation, detectives arrested Adrian Jordan Simpson, 19. County booking records list charges of robbery with a firearm, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, use of a two-way communication device to commit a felony and petit theft. The arrest is tied to POPD case 260004805.

POPD reported that Simpson confessed and that detectives recovered both the firearm allegedly used in the robbery and the stolen PlayStation 5.

Volusia County Corrections records show Simpson was booked Sept. 10 under booking number 1183544. At a Sept. 11 records check, he remained in custody with no release date listed, and each of the four booking charges was marked no bond.

Clerk of court records identify the criminal case as 2026 105961 CFDB. The case was filed Sept. 10 and remained open as of Sept. 11.

The police department did not identify the victim or say which online service was used to arrange the sale.

Charges are accusations. Simpson is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
