Holly Hill Officer Reports Badge and Patrol-Car Keys Missing After Night Out; Theft Case Suspended
HOLLY HILL, Fla. — A Holly Hill police officer reported that his department-issued badge and spare keys to his assigned patrol vehicle were missing after a night out in August, according to a police incident report obtained by CFL Report. Investigators searched for leads but placed the case in suspended status on Sept. 21 without identifying a suspect.

Officer Julio Liriano told investigators he went out drinking with an associate on Aug. 15, 2026, parked his personal Alfa Romeo near the Drunken Duck Brewing Company and later visited the nearby Towline bar. He said he returned to his car during the evening and believed he had locked it. After arriving home around 12:30 a.m. on Aug. 16, he discovered that a bag containing his house keys was gone. When he reported for work later that morning, he told police his badge and the spare patrol-vehicle keys were also missing.

The report classifies the incident as a vehicle burglary and theft. It says Liriano’s personal car showed no obvious signs of forced entry; an investigative note listed a possibly unlocked passenger-side door as the method of entry. The report does not say the patrol vehicle itself was stolen. It also does not establish that Liriano drove while impaired.
Police initially recorded a roughly $3,000 estimate for missing personal property, including a battery jump pack valued at $2,850. In a later update, Liriano said he had returned the borrowed jump pack to its owner during a stop on the way home. The report then described the remaining personal items as worth about $150, in addition to the department-issued badge and keys.
Investigators reviewed available surveillance video, checked nearby businesses and police databases, and collected fingerprints from the car. One print matched Liriano; another searchable print did not produce a match and was added to an unsolved-print database. The report says no useful video or new leads emerged. It does not indicate that the badge or keys were recovered.
By Sept. 21, investigators reported that known leads had been exhausted and suspended the case. The report identifies no suspect. The missing-property report makes Liriano the reporting victim, not a person accused of wrongdoing.
