Two Men Jailed in Separate Brevard Animal-Cruelty Cases, Sheriff Says
BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — Two men were arrested in separate animal-cruelty investigations, according to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Wayne Ivey announced both arrests in an official video and warned that portions of the footage are difficult to watch. CFL Report is summarizing the allegations without displaying the alleged abuse footage at the top of this story.
Dog-training allegation
Todd Moorhead was arrested on one count of aggravated animal cruelty and assigned a $5,000 bond, Ivey said.
According to the sheriff, a family hired Moorhead through Bark Busters to help train its dog. Ivey said home security video allegedly showed Moorhead suspending and strangling the dog until the animal lost consciousness. The dog survived but required veterinary care, according to the agency.
The Sheriff’s Office asked other clients who believe they had a problem involving Moorhead to contact investigators.
Separate arrest near dumpster
In an unrelated case, Jeffrey Barry was arrested on one count of animal cruelty and assigned a $7,500 bond, Ivey said.
The sheriff said East Precinct deputies responded after witnesses reported seeing Barry with a poodle tied near a dumpster and allegedly striking the dog with a pole or similar object. Ivey said the dog suffered an injury to a front paw.
The Sheriff’s Office video did not provide the men’s ages, exact arrest locations, booking dates or court case numbers. CFL Report is not adding details that were not included in the official account.
Both cases involve arrest allegations, not convictions. Moorhead and Barry are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
