Causeway Park Repaving and Renovation Change Access at Port Orange Boat Ramp
PORT ORANGE, Fla. — Repaving and renovation work changed access to parts of Causeway Park in early August as Port Orange continued improvements to the park’s boat ramps and parking areas.
The broader project began Jan. 20. City plans include boat-ramp renovations, parking-lot resurfacing and restriping, and accessibility improvements.
During the first phase, the south boat ramps and about 25% of the parking area were closed. The restrooms, north ramps for boats shorter than 20 feet, north parking area and fishing piers were scheduled to remain available for much of the work.

The city separately announced that the main fishing pier, pavilion, restrooms and single-car parking area would close from July 29 through Aug. 7 for repaving. The north boat ramp and north T-shaped fishing pier were scheduled to remain open, with the closed facilities anticipated to reopen Aug. 8.
Causeway Park is a 30-acre waterfront facility at 93 Dunlawton Ave. The city lists seven boat ramps, three fishing piers, pavilions, picnic tables, grills, restrooms and vehicle and trailer parking among its amenities.

The city’s project page listed a mid-August target for completion. Visitors should check the current city notice before traveling because access can change as work progresses.
Port Orange said in an Aug. 14 update that the boat-ramp project had entered its final stages. The city reported that a new wooden dock had been installed alongside the fourth floating dock while crews continued paving the parking lot. Officials said the more resilient design is intended to improve accessibility, withstand severe weather and reduce future storm-related damage and closure time.
The city’s latest access guidance, published Sept. 4, concerns a separate utility-line project scheduled to begin Sept. 9. That work will replace a major line running beneath the Halifax River from the beachside through Causeway Park toward the west bank near Herbert Street. A portion of the parking lot near the fishing piers will be used to store materials for approximately six weeks, weather permitting.
Port Orange said the fishing pier and boat ramps will remain open during the utility work and parking will continue to be available for park visitors. The contractor is expected to minimize disruptions, although the material-storage area will temporarily reduce the portion of the lot available near the piers.
