Accuracy and verification
CFL Report is committed to accurate, timely and independent Central Florida reporting. Consequential facts are attributed, and the newsroom seeks primary records, direct observations or knowledgeable sources whenever practical. Headlines and photographs should accurately reflect the article rather than exaggerate what is known.
Developing stories
Breaking-news details can change. Early reports are identified as preliminary, and articles may be updated as agencies, witnesses and public records provide additional information. A lack of confirmed detail is not filled with speculation. Material changes are identified with an update or correction note when appropriate.
Allegations, arrests and fairness
An arrest or accusation is not a finding of guilt. Crime and court coverage distinguishes allegations from adjudicated facts and avoids identifying protected juveniles. CFL Report seeks a response from a person or organization facing significant criticism when time and circumstances allow, and the article explains when a response was unavailable.
Sources, photographs and video
Articles link to public records, government releases and original source material whenever practical. Reader submissions and social-media posts are verified before their claims are presented as fact. Captions disclose when an image is illustrative, supplied by an agency or created from original CFL Report media. Embedded social video supports the reporting; it does not replace the article’s independent context.
Independence
Advertising, sponsorships, gifts and personal relationships do not determine editorial coverage. Sponsored material and opinion are labeled so readers can distinguish them from reported news. Advertisers do not receive advance review or approval of newsroom work.
Corrections
